About Uncirculated

What do coin grades mean?

Coin grades follow the Sheldon scale (1–70), where 70 is perfect. Third-party grading services PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) and NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation) authenticate and grade coins, encapsulating them in tamper-evident holders ("slabs").

MS (Mint State) coins are uncirculated business strikes. PF (Proof) coins are specially struck for collectors with mirror-like fields. SP (Specimen) grades apply to burnished or matte-finish special issues. BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) is an ungraded raw coin with full mint luster — the most affordable certified-quality alternative.
