Chinese paper-cutting, or 'jianzhi', is the art of carving out intricate designs from paper to decorate windows and lanterns. Said to have originated after the invention of paper in 105 CE, the folk art tradition is still practiced to this day. In 2009, it was inscribed into the to UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a list comprising intangible heritage elements that highlight the diversity of this heritage and raise awareness of its significance #### **ROTATING HORSE DESIGN** The coin’s reverse incorporates a rotating gold-plated sterling silver horse bead. It is surrounded by five horses in varying poses, illustrated to emulate the style of Chinese paper-cutting, set amid stylised foliage. Also included is The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, and 2026 year-date. #### **PRESENTATION PACKAGING** Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, the coin is presented in a classic black display case with a clear lid and stylishly themed shipper. #### **ABOUT THE PERTH MINT** The Perth Mint opened in 1899 as the British Royal Mint's 3rd branch in Australia. The historical Hay Street location handled gold refining until moving to a modern facility in April 1990. Ownership of the mint was transferred to the Government of Western Australia in July of 1970. Under an agreement with the Commonwealth Treasury, they were empowered to mint and market gold, silver, and platinum as Australian legal tender to investors and collectors worldwide. Today, they are amongst the elite world mints whose pure gold, silver, and platinum items are trusted without question. Items such as the Australian Nugget, Silver Coin Series (Kangaroo, Kookaburra, Koala, and Platypus to name a few), as well as the Australian Lunar Gold and Silver Coin Series are extensively sought after by bullion investors worldwide.
