Description

2016 (S) 1 oz Silver American Eagle $1 Coin PCGS MS 69   The American Silver Eagle is the most popular design in American coinage, providing the beauty and excellent bullion quality. From the first release in 1986, the US Mint made over 337,562,000 of these 1 oz Silver American Eagle coins. This coin is very popular for its stunning image of Lady Liberty, designed by famous illustrator Adolph A. Weinman. Most collectors know this artwork by its name - "Walking Liberty". The reverse displays a heraldic bald eagle with a banner in its beak, created by John Mercanti. Above the eagle's head, there are 13 stars arranged in a triangular pattern. This coin design originally appeared on the half dollar. Since 2001, Silver American Eagles were minted at the West Point facility but when production capacity lagged the Mint used its San Francisco location as well. This coin doesn’t have any mintmark on it, but PCGS and NGC can now identify 2014-2017 Silver American Eagles with their Mint location, thus they were able to apply the appropriate mint mark to their labels. The details about the mintage facility were not released to the public until now meaning the Mint location could only be known with the information on their 500-coin packaging boxes, commonly called “monster boxes”. The method used by NGC and PCGS is as follows: 2016 San Francisco Mint boxes have a six digit serial number starting with the number 4 (4,650,000 mintage). The Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) provide the mint attribution by using “S” for San Francisco, “P” for Philadelphia, “W” for West Point, e.g. 2017-(W) and their original labels. This Silver American Eagle was graded by PCGS as MS 69 and guaranteed by the US Mint for its weight, content, and metal purity.  Coin Features:  Coin consists of 1 troy ounce, made from .999 fine silver. Face Value - $1 USD. PCGS MS 69 - Fully struck coin with minuscule imperfections visible upon close inspection. Obverse: A heraldic eagle is shown b
